Glass, jewellery and air architecture at The Curve

Loved seeing the work from local contemporary design-makers at the Makers Mart held at Leicester’s Curve theatre this weekend. There was some really diverse work on display…

I loved the amazing paper sculpture and silk jewellery from ‘Air Architect’ Clare Pentlow really beautiful stuff. There was also gorgeous jewellery from Alys Power . She produces beautiful quirky pieces using reused, reclaimed and reinvented materials. I loved the use of the reclaimed keys and the texture that her vintage tools left on her metalwork.

Anna Krystyna-Casey fuses traditional textile processes such as crochet and embroidery into glass. There was striking sculptural work from Gillian Tidgewell who combines silversmithing and woodwork to create lovely unique objects and there was colourful glass jewellery and versatile ‘cloud’ bowls from Ema Kelly Her pendants were almost edible!
