Taking inspiration from the natural world, Valeria Nascimento works in porcelain, creating repetitive sequencing with separate elements. I love the textural, weightless quality of her work and the unusual use of the ceramic medium.
Born in Brazil Valeria studied architecture, cementing her interest in the fusion between urban landscapes and natural forms, she was later introduced to clay and became fascinated by its multiple possibilities for expression and the development of ideas.
I think her architectural awareness is evident in her installation work. She has recently completed this large scale installation of ‘Blossoming’ for the new London Tiffany & co store.
